My fiancée gave me this for me for Christmas. I am always reading or working in bed and needed better back support. I would have to agree with many of the past reviewers in the following areas:

Smelled really bad like plastic. I aired it out in the garage and used Febreeze on it. After a couple of days it was fine.

Arms are too short You can't put a drink in the holder without knocking it over so it is pretty much useless. The only advantage to short arms is that I can use my laptop tray on my lap and it sits perfectly due to the short arms.

"Massage" it just vibrates. But I was not expecting anything more since most products that say they "massage" vibrate also.

It does provide good back support even though the neck portion is a little short. All in all, I like it and am glad I have it for the back support but since all of the other features are inadequate, I do not think it's worth $100.

I bought this for my wife to use while grading papers at night. This bed rest is very comfortable. I read some reviews about it not being adjustable, but I think it is in the perfect position. I am a VERY big guy, and I have no problem sitting back in it and almost falling asleep. Controls are easy to use, and the overall unit is very straight-forward regarding usage. The light is very bright, and lights up a very usabel area. Stores easily under bed when folded up. This product is exactly what I was looking for. And of course, the flawless delivery from Amazon makes it htat much better!

The back is not adjustable and will not recline. There is absolutely no lumbar support making this bed rest extremely uncomfortable. Although the fabric is cozy the foam is hard. I had to return it.

My children bought me this bedrest for a christmas gift. The lightbulb no longer works and is not replaceable. I contacted Brookston and customer service was horrible. I spoke with Wendy, who said she was a supervisor. She wanted me to send back the item at my expense and they would give me a gift card. I told her that no where in the ad does it say that once the light goes, it is not replaceable. I then got a phone message from Amanda who stated that there was nothing Brookstone could do. False advertising and inefficient customer service.

I read a lot of mixed reviews on this product, but I really wanted it, so I bought it anyway and hoped for the best. Unfortunately, every negative thing I read was true. It has a really weird, persistent chemical smell, the massage feature is really more of a violent vibration (I can feel my brain jittering around in my skull [I'm serious]), the arm rests are too short and awkward, and there is no such thing as a comfortable sitting position. I AM SO BUMMED! You have no idea how badly I wanted this stupid thing. The concept is brilliant, and the book light and cup holder are solid features. Unfortunately, it's just poorly designed.
