After ordering and receiving a desk from Sauder which turned out to be a piece of junk further compromised by careless FedEx handling, I was excited to order this desk. Solid wood, good reviews, free shipping, what more could I ask. Unfortunately, one of the legs arrived broken. To be fair, I must say two things: 1) the packaging was great, three separate boxes, each piece appeared securely wrapped, and, 2) I just got off the phone with Home Style Customer Service and they are shipping out a new leg tomorrow which I should have in a day or two. What is together so far looks great, nice pieces of wood, secure connections, easy to follow instructions. If the leg were not broken, I think I would probably be able to give it five stars. I'll update this review when the whole thing gets together. I know "things happen" and a broken leg does not mean it is not a good product, but we seem to be falling down in quality control.
9/15 As promised, the company sent a new leg, desk was completed and I love it 5 stars worth. It is very functional, looks great (the color is a bit deep, more to "honey oak" but it looks very warm; I actually think the color is one of the best details.) Not everything comes perfect so knowing that Customer Service is prompt, knowledgeable, and dependable is a big plus in my recommendation for others to purchase.

This is a great looking desk and the quality of the materials is excellent too. I am also pleased with the customer service and the instructions to put it together. However, the instructions could use just a bit more clarity or the sticker placement could be improved. It also took a LONG time to put it together, but that's not even a problem in my book. The biggest problem is the computer keyboard leaves no room for a mouse! If you plan on spending a lot of time at the desk, then your keyboard will be in the tray and your mouse on the desk top, leaving for a rather uncomfortable ergonomic situation. I looked for a week to find the right desk. I first found the same desk on a different site for 680$. Then sears had it for 508$ but they charged 100+ for delivery. Then I found it on amazon for 498$ shipping included. That alone was great. Web site gave shipment date of 22-29 and I received it yesterday the 13th. My mom and I worked and had it put together in 1 1/2 hrs. Directions were easy to understand and follow. I wanted a desk that was solid wood not laminate. And one that didnt look older and huge. This is a solid, classic looking desk. The wood stain is a beautiful, rich stainnot too light and not too dark. It took my husband (no rookie here, btw) half a day to assemble it. Nice heavy sturdy desk. Bought 2 of them. Neither are oak colored (I.e. yellowish wood) they are more a light cherry (i.e. golden brown). One of the desks was missing a piece, I e-mailed the company and they promptly sent me a replacement.
