These are paper placemats, period. I needed them for an 80th birthday party, and they served the purpose well. But, I don't see how they could ever be reused, no matter how careful someone is. People put their used silverware on them, and that's a cross-contamination issue. Simply not hygienic (at least to this RN). Wiping them down would change the paper; there is no moisture barrier. They are thicker than many paper placemats. But reusable? I don't think so.
If you just need a bit of color on the table, and a one time placemat, these are fine. They come in a tear-off pad, and they came off nicely with no snags. I would consider them againand know ahead of time a better idea of what was coming.
