I first heard about the fouta (pronounced "fow-ta") in the June 2013 edition of Better Homes and Gardens magazine and instantly had to have one. They are described as "All cotton, lightweight and big, big, big (41 x 76 inches), foutas are just as absorbent as terry towels, dry quicker and are a cinch to tote and store. Perfect as a towel and sarong, they also work as a table runner, picnic blanket, and even a shawl. Bonus: The more you throw them in the wash, the softer and more absorbent they get." The particular brand they were advertising was $40 plus $14 in shipping AND they were sold out. I started scouring Amazon for cheaper renditions in the same bright beautiful colors and just a big and this one fits the bill, though not quite as absorbent as one with a honey comb texture this is every bit as useful as a standard beach towel, yet it looks sophisticated and it is big enough to wrap nearly any body. This Aqua color is vibrant yet chic. I'm anxiously watching the listing to see when it is back in stock. I immediately got on and ordered the lilac and apricot colors as gifts and they are just as pleasing. Fantastic beach accessory or hostess gift and works wonders as a guest or everyday bath towel as well. It looks even better when it is ironed but is as functional even when it is not. I highly recommend this fouta.

I have grown to love turkish towels. It comes in a beautiful package. The only thing that negitive is that the first two washings had the water run bright blue. So the first couple of washing make certain you wash with like colors.

It's the perfect size for bathing and the beach. I like that they roll up small despite its size, they wash and dry very easily, and the color is bright without bleeding into other fabrics. You definitely need to wash/use a couple of times before the absorbency and softness is at its peak. You can fold it a couple times to layer for drying hair. Only quibble is that the sides furl a bit, so rolling is definitely the best way to store these compared to simply folding. Recommend paying the couple extra dollars for a higher quality peshtemal. We also tried a lower grade one and it's just not as soft or pleasant.

We ordered these cautiously as "how can these be absorbent?" They are! They are light; absorbent, large, comfortable. We also ordered highest quality, Luxury 820-Gram Cotton Towels at the same time, we seem to only use the Turkish Towels. We are now ordering them for our family for Christmas! So nice! (Don't use fabric softener, nor dryer sheets on any towels as they will lose their absorbency. 57 years old and I just figured this out!)

I bought these to use for post scuba diving and they are fabulous and quick drying. Also have used to dry my two year old at the beach and clean the dogs paws. Great value and high quality.
