I have had this product for almost 3 months now. It was purchased from Bed Bath & Beyond. It works awesome for choppping and dicing garlic for me but when it has come to onions it's been a waste of time and I've reverted back to doing onion chopping by hand. The blade isn't sharp enough to go through the depth of a quartered onion. It leaves a lot of wasted pieces. I've tried many different ways to cut the onions in a way that this little chopper will work for me and it's been without success.Cleaning isn't difficult but could be a lot easier. For cleaning, the whole item needs to be broken down into 5 pieces for cleaning. I wash it by hand. Seems safe enough for the dishwasher top shelf but because of the way the blades are shaped I don't think dishwasher cleaning is thorough.
It comes with a little scooping spoon. The spoon doesn't sit well in the holes that it is supposed to rest in and keeps falling off.
I'm not happy that it doesn't chop red/white/yellow onions well which is what I bought it for.
I'm looking to replace it in the near future. I would recommend another brand because the quality of the blades, the price and the scoop spoon being awkward sitting on the product have been irritations to me.
I do give it a good rating for durability however.

I bought this for my wife for Christmas after suffering for years with a cheap chopper. There were no reviews at that time to go by but it looked like a sturdy chopper. All I can say is that we have been extremely pleased with this product. It is very well build, very sturdy, comes apart easily and cleans up great! The rotating blades chop the material well with no effort on your part. We use it mainly for onions and mushrooms and it performs excellently. I would highly reccomend this chopper. Price is reasonable and it appears that it will last for years!Honest reviews on Oxo International 1057959 Good Grips Vegetable/Herb Chopper
I really love OXO products so I was excited to get this. While it is well-designed, it is useless. I thought it was something I would use everyday, but instead I can't remember the last time I used it. I just think choppers like these take longer to clean-up than the time they save you chopping. A good santoku knife is a better investment (and cheaper). Here's why I don't use it:
It can only chop small quantities at a time. If you overload it, the blade will get stuck and instead of just pushing down, you'll have to begin pulling the plunger back up manually.
Onions, garlic, and tomatoes are the things I chop the most. It can only chop about a quarter of an onion at a time, which makes chopping a whole onion very time consuming. Garlic becomes a very sticky paste when you chop it and with this you tend to lose a lot of the paste on the blade and bowl. It makes a mess of tomatoes--basically purees them.
One feature is that the bottom of the bowl comes off so you can use the chopper on a cutting board. The problem is the bottom comes off sometimes when you don't want it to.
You have to take it apart and put it back together to clean it. A knife just rinses off.
Again, I really love OXO products and I don't think it's their fault that this product is useless (that's why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1). A santuko knife just can't be beat. Happy chopping :)

I essentially got this chopper for my love of onions, but my hate for chopping.I was disappointed when my medium sized vidalia got stuck several times to the blade like the onion was too big for it :-( I would scoop it out, but it would be stuck again. It finally did its job when I started to quarter the onions.
I tried it on garlic and ginger and some dryfruits and it did a good job.
Cleaning was easy.
